This is a map from Google Earth made by MAG (
Mine Advisory Group). MAG trains Lao people in the removal of unexplored bombs left over from "The Secret War" Check out
this link for a You Tube Video on what the war and what MAG is doing.
Basically each one of the red circles are known bomb drops from the war (1964-1975). When on their Google Earth map you can click on a circle and it will tell you how many bombs were dropped in
that cluster; we saw numbers in the hundreds for each red circle.
Estimates are that 30% of the bombs did not explore when dropped. Many of them remain live today.

Thank God, we WEREN'T here when this was going on...

The Lao now use bomb casings for decoration
and reminders

Scrap metal collection

Sheesh...
As we travelled Laos it was not uncommon in a village to see someone missing a limb as a result of tripping a left over unexploded bomb.
