The Mighty Fisherman

Here I am remembering the time I read "Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway, thinking that anytime now I am going to get the 'big hit'.

Both Tori and I get hits at the same time...

The BIG catch, a Sierra. I have since found out how to hold a fish so it looks REALLY big. If you hold your arm out towards the camera the perspective gets thrown off. I thought I should try this for the next rat or rattle snake or scrorpion, or I catch under or around the trailer...

Later that day we went to this island where the sea lions have have become habituated to humans. We swam all around them, or should I say, they swam all around us while we went for a swim close to their rookery. Regardless this picture was taken after we left there and found a place for a picnic lunch.

I decided that if this picture turned out it may well turn out to be my favourite one of all time. I think it is close...

Couple of Desert Photos

Our Guard Dragon: Iggy

Iggy, the Guard Dragon hanging out...just outside our bedroom window.

A close up from our new deck.

Ready to pounce...

Keeping a safe distance, didn't know if she'd bite...

More Mom Pics

When Mom said she'd get some spices for our neighbour Joan, she didn't think she'd hit pay dirt to this degree! This is a spice store in La Paz.

Mom finally found her Superman! Too bad he is a stuffed shirt!

Almost finished...a couple of tidy ups and f*** ups but what the hey, huh?

My love studying the grain patterns in the Mexican Pine we used for floor boards...
I'd raise my glass with her!

Construction So Far

My Chain Saw Mama...not just a pretty face..

Working with the by-product of all that dieseling

A bit of perspective...

Our first beer up top...
There is still a lot to do. We got half the deck boards screwed in today. I ran out of diesel and so will need one more load. That will make a total of 140 litres of diesel soaked into the boards we've put up so far. I have the cross braces and hand rails left to soak and then THAT WILL BE IT!!!
Stay tuned for more pictures. Yesterday we got action photos of a resident iguana that lives in the existing pole structure. I went up to remove some redundant beams only to find him hanging out on top of what is his home. I modified the design that now leaves the beams in place.

Adventures With Mom

Watching the one of two channels we get at the ranch...one at sunrise the other at sunset.

A commercial break during sunset...

A feed at a local upscale taco stand, Brahhas. The three of us ate for $5.50 CND. Not all places have the same menu pricing....

Todos Santos 5K

We helped out at a 5K run in Todos Santos. We were the timers. There were over 50 volunteers and over 350 runners. We did it! The 2 kids beside us won the kids 1 K run. They came registered AFTER everyone else had started the race and still beat everyone.
Best of all Mary Mitchell, one of our partners entered the race with Skeya in tow and won the Women's Masters category!
Rob and Maura and Nancy the Timer Team!

Mary crossing the finish line!

The Master! Now a professional road racer. Her price was $300 Pesos!

Construction Projects of Late..

Everything needs 3 coats of diesel followed by in some cases a coat of tar! Now I know how to have fun!!!
I have since abandoned the yougurt container for a big ass bucket. These 4x6's are the joists and are now covered in a layer of thinned out tar...

Pablo's septic failed and so we replaced it. (It was either that or they'd be using our trailer...) The tank approach is a 55 gallon plastic barrel with the bottom cut out of it. Technology at its finest. The Neem tree beside just loves it!
