We decided to go for a drive and follow our noses. Under advisement we took a side road as the day was a holiday in honour of a full moon that under Balinese tradition was extra special and happens every 10 years. We happened to the top of a volcanic ridge and found a temple. Turns out it is the grand pappy/mammy of all temples on Bali and people from all around were there, including us.

Women were gathered together.

The entrance to a courtyard within the temple. The woman is carrying her offerings.

A place where the offerings are placed.

A group of men dancing in front of a holy place.

A perspective on the amount of people.

Some girls dressed ready for a traditional dance.

Couldn't decide which picture was best. So there both posted.

The main entrance off the street.

Boys watching their elders playing music. It was captivating.

The fellow leading the symbol/percussion unit. There were big gongs, these symbols and some brass bowls each with their own tone and rhythm.

This band had a couple of flutes added in with a whole mass of xylophone type instruments.

The fellow with the long hair stepped in half way through the song. It seemed as if he was an honoured teacher or mentor to the others.

I loved this music. Reminded me of an old Mickey Hart album, Planet Drum.

Kids on the edge of the band watching, learning. Social capital at its best...

A play we stumbled on later that night.
