I thought we were being brave just riding double on a scooter! Try balancing anything on your head. Then try riding a bike on top of that. (I know what you are thinking..."That's easy, the bike is an automatic...")
We stopped with just enough time to take this shot. Turns out it is a place where the tour buses stop. We were 'attacked' by touks wanting to sell us everything...we stayed only long enough to snap this shot.
Part way through the day we stopped for something to eat. Maura's comment was "Thank God for Dukeral (anti-Bali-Belly medication)
The chief cook. He ripped us off. He charged the fellow before us half of what he charged us. (local price) No wonder he is smiling. He took us for $0.60 CND for two bowls of soup (tourist price).:o)
We stopped to look at the map. It turned out it was beside a temple. For $0.50 CND we got blessed as did the bike. Flowers, holy water, rice on the forehead and flowers in our hair. Such a deal, no accidents and the rest of the day went swimmingly wonderful. PS I call this my Indonesian Kilt...
Stopped for lunch. The owner offered to take this shot. Little did we know his daughter was a budding photographer and ham extraordinaire.
Maura and the owner's daughter doing a photo shoot together with the girl's camera. (No film, but all shots were priceless as you can see...
Turns out I was tying my kilt on like a woman. The owner of the cafe showed me how to tie it 'like a man'. Well actually he tied it for me. Turns out Balinese men are pretty comfortable with getting up close and personal while tying someones kilt. He had me undressed in the middle of the restaurant and got me not dressing like a girl in a flash (pun intended)
