North Coast of Bali Road Trip (Our Last Day)

The last day of our 5 day road trip through North East Bali ended up taking us back to Ubud. Ahh, a re-inflated butt and a good bed makes the trip seem so distant and so wonderfully pleasant.

We started off the last day of our road trip by stopping here. A friend of M's runs retreats here. It was a little rich for us. VERY sweet but we chose to move on. Decisions have their consequence. This one we were painfully aware of: we paid the price with flat butts after a very long day.

A mountain town along the way.

This is on a ridge line with each side dropping steeply off. The wood haulers on the right are carrying wood to the local carvers down the road.

We had stopped for a road side rest and these folks passed us. As they went by they waved like we were long lost friends on the way to the same gathering. As we caught up Maura took a couple of action shots as we passed.

We leave Bali knowing we will always have friends such as this...

Rolling into another curve on a country Bali road...

Flowers are everywhere. These are placed on the steps into a temple.

A family run gas station in the mountains. Gas is $0.50/litre

A stop to re-inflate our butts.

Pee stop.

Yet another temple that caught our eye.

Another gas mountain gas station. Glass jars on the top shelf are 1 liter, the jugs on the bottom are 2 liters.

Born to be MILLLLD!!!

Blacksmith shop. He stands in a small pit that makes the ground level be his work table. He is putting the finishing touches on the knife blade by installing a handle.

The world in waterdrop

These are in a section of Bali where carvings go to get painted. It is interesting, each area seems to have its own specialty. This one is painting wooden carvings.
